No solo son naturales y biodegradables sino que se plantan y germinan después de ser usados, permitiendo que tengan una nueva vida como planta
El plástico se ha convertido en uno de los grandes enemigos del planeta. La acumulación del mismo en los fondos marinos, en las superficies de todo tipo de espacios naturales, ha generado un verdadero movimiento en favor de eliminar su uso que ya está empezando a ver tímidos gestos gubernamentales al respecto. Pero de momento no es suficiente y el peligro es cada vez mayor. Productos, sobre todo desechables, como pajitas, bolsas y todo tipo de envases de un solo uso, son una amenaza real para el medio ambiente.

En este sentido, hay luz en iniciativas como la de Lifepack, dedicada a la producción de envases eco y medioambientalmente amigables, desarrollada por los colombianos Claudia Barona y Andrés Benavides. Ellos no se han conformado con medidas de reciclaje sino que han dado un paso más allá con su línea Papelyco, formada por envases desechables y germinables creados a partir de restos naturales de maíz o piña. Han diseñado una colección con platos de tres tamaños diferentes, que se venden por separado o en un pack de vajilla con 8 servicios y cubiertos de pino que ¡se plantan una vez usados!
Se trata del envase descartable más ecológico del mercado pues, además, es cien por cien compostable y capaz de germinar una planta en poco más de una semana. Plantas que, por otro lado, ayudarán a filtrar hasta una tonelada de CO2, causando un efecto positivo en la huella de carbono. En el caso de clientes mayoristas e indirectos, la propia empresa se encarga de habilitar contenedores específicos de reciclaje y de su recogida. Posteriormente, con ayuda de otras entidades, esos envases germinables sirven para recuperar zonas deforestadas.

Además de estar comprometidos con el planeta, también lo están con el tejido social y económico formado por familias de pocos recursos, donde han generado numerosos puestos de trabajo.
